Mouser Now Stocking Long-Range 900 MHz Digi XLR PRO Module for Industrial RF Wireless Applications

Based on Digi's full-scale Digi XLR PRO industrial radio, this smaller, high-performance 900 MHz embedded module enables reliable wireless communications for a broad array of OEM industrial devices. The module is ideal for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network topologies and utilizes Digi's Punch2^® technology, which provides industry-leading interference immunity for noisy radio frequency (RF) environments.

The Digi XLR PRO module, available from Mouser Electronics, is a major improvement over traditionally used frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) or direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) systems. Providing better receiver sensitivity, multipath performance and interference rejection, the long-range 900 MHz industrial radio is designed to replace Ethernet or serial-cable connectivity for transmitting remote field data. The Digi XLR PRO module is capable of ranges from 1 to 100 miles (line-of-sight) using Digi's Punch2 Technology with chirp spread spectrum (CSS) modulation, and supports data rates up to 3.2 Mbits per second. Maximum transmit (Tx) power is +30 dBm, and receive (Rx) sensitivity is specified at -120 dBm.

Digi XLR PRO is available in a PCIe form factor with UART or SPI serial interfaces. The module supports 128-bit AES encryption for secure data communications,and is fully certified in the U.S. and Canada for use in the unlicensed 900 MHz band (ISM 902 to 928 MHz).

Digi XLR PRO fits a compact 34 mm × 51 mm × 6.1 mm footprint and is supported by a RF Development Kit. The development kit includes two Digi XLR PRO modules, two Digi XLR PRO development boards, two articulating antennas, and power supplies to help engineers create designs for a variety of RF wireless industrial applications, including oil and gas, precision agriculture, utilities and line-of-sight industrial communications.
